  • Q: How often should my water filter be replaced?
  • A: This will depend on the type of water filter you have and the water quality in your area. Most filters have either a 6 or 12 month life span and should be replaced according the manufacturers specifications. If the water in your area has a lot of sediment the water the filter may block earlier creating slow flow from your tap. If this occurs you should either renew the filter cartridge or if the problem occurs regularly you may wish to explore other filtration options.
  • Q: There are only two of us at home so we don’t use the filter system much. Do I still need to change the filter according to manufacturers specifications?
  • A: The life of the filter cartridge is not only based on the amount of water being used. It is also based on the makeup of the filter media inside the cartridge. If filters aren’t changed at the end of the designated life span they can start to grow bacteria. This being said, in most cases an additional month or two extra isn’t going to hurt anyone.
